Copernicusplein/ Valkenboslaan
In the past, the Polish astronomer after whom the square was named had a statue on top of the facade of the house at No. 9.
The image was special enough to be drawn by Lijntrekker (Jan Bouwman) who made a reader’s puzzle of it in the Volkskrant on 11 April 1959; “Where is the astronomer in a gutter close to the stars?”
Nowadays we ask; “Who knows where the statue of Copernicus went?”
